I thought one of the criticisms of directgov was the use of external websites resulting in a disjointed and unsatisfactory experience.
So I’m very surprised that the above box subscribes you to a google group without any warning, without any chance to refuse Google, Inc’s terms and conditions, and lands you on a Google-styled webpage. Was subscribe-to-comments plugin or a UK-hosted email list not good enough for some reason?
Hi,
We went with Googlegroups as a quick way to set up a mailing group but take on board your comments, we’ll put a note next to the sign up to let people know what they’re joining.
Thanks for your feedback
Liz
I feel that if it’s simpler to go through all Googlegroups signup and setup screens than to add a mailing list or just a plugin on your WordPress, then there’s something wrong with your hosting.
Thanks for adding the note anyhow.
